About Glen Hosking
I was born in 1970, just in time to witness a golden era of comedy. Mel Brooks. Norman Lear. Woody Allen. Monty Python. National Lampoon. The Zucker Brothers. They and my family shaped my sense of humor, leading me toward recent influences like Nora Ephron, Judd Apatow, Wes Anderson and Pete Docter. I performed a little stand-up in NYC before a career of turning insights and truths into ad copy.
In my spare time, I write spec screenplays, many of which are available for option or purchase. They have received positive coverage, and a few have been recognized by a number of screenwriting competitions. I once came thisclose to having a screenplay produced. But it's a long, long Hollywood-style story. Onward.

Screenplays for Option or Purchase

APOSTLE 13
What would you do if you stumbled upon the chance to save Jesus? This is the challenge for our hero in the time-travel comedy Script Pipeline called, "...a clever script built around a fun, marketable hook." And The Black List said, "...is full of subtle, cinematic, and emotionally gripping moments and scenes that will make this script stand out in the marketplace."

It was a quarter-finalist in the 2021 Emerging Screenwriters Genre Competition.

SHE IS EVERYTHING

I wrote this for Tom Hiddleston. I love him as Loki. So, Tom, if you're listening, I have something for you. #pleasereadittom

THE CONTRACT YEAR
What if you were traded to the worst team in the league-...and you're not even a player? Find out what happens when our hero attempts to turn a bad dance team into a great one in a film that's like Will Ferrell's Semi-Pro meets Pitch Perfect in Trump's America. The Black List called its main character, "Fundamentally flawed...the type of protagonist the audience wants to sit with longer to figure out exactly what makes him tick. His one-liners are fantastic and hilarious..."

GREETINGS FROM LEBANON, KANSAS
What would happen if aliens invaded America, threatening to turn us into refugees or dust, and our British-speaking female president had to fight to save a nation that can be its own worst enemy? It's An American President meets Independence Day meets the Coen Brothers.

I wrote this political satire sci-fi dramedy for Olivia Colman. My family and I fell in love with her when she accepted her Oscar. So genuine and genuinely funny. I decided the world needed more of her. Now if only I can have her read it. #pleasereaditolivia

PASSIONFRUIT
When his family attempts to sell their tiny produce business to a global conglomerate, a risk-averse scion must summon the courage to fight for what he loves.

This is the first logline I ever wrote and the first full-length comedy I ever wrote. It would make a great independent film.

MEANWHILE, ON EARTH (A Short Story)
When an engineer working on the moon returns home for a visit he must confront the emotions and forces that compelled him to leave in the first place.

This short film is set in the near future, when pandemics are the new normal. It was a finalist in the Emerging Screenwriters Shoot Your Short competition.

WOLF AND FOX HUNT

THIS HAS BEEN OPTIONED

PARKING LOT LOVE SONG
When his demo tape ends up in the car of his secret crush, a high school senior spends the night trying to track it down before she discovers it and hears the song he wrote for her.

Set in the late 80s, this is a great indie film that would be perfect for a first-time director. It's in the spirit of films like American Graffiti, Eighth Grade and mid90s.

THE PAINTED MAN
In a hunt for the man who can grant them death, two mismatched immortals must search the world, navigate the decades and do anything but admit they’re falling in love. It's like Highlander meets When Harry Met Sally spanning three-hundred years.

I wrote this for Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Peter Dinklage, both of whom should be immortal. Now you're really intrigued to read this, right?

ANDERSON HAS POOR JUDGMENT - A SHORT FILM
Anderson reaches his breaking point with the talent show judges who criticize his life choices.
